Catch up

Since I didn't start this blog when I first got here, I have some catchup to do. Many of you have heard my stories, but some may not, so this may be a longer blog than usual.

I decided to come here because I have always wanted to live abroad but hadn't made it a priority until this year when I had nothing holding me back and this unique work and study abroad experience for college graduates called the mountbatten program.

In this program, I live in an apartment in Islington, London and work at one of the top investment banks in the world, Deutsche Bank. Not having any previous financial banking background, I was a little nervous about starting, but all of my colleagues have been very helpful and patient with me. I feel like I am learning the tasks quickly, but there is still a lot of terminology and culture around the banking industry that I am learning everyday.

Highlights of the last 2 months:

Early Holiday:I didn't have work the first 2 weeks due to my boss's holiday, so I had time to explore London, go to the tate modern, the natural history museum etc.

The London Bug: I was sick for the first 3-4 weeks with a cold and then caught pink eye before I finally got better. They call it the London bug...I got it bad! But I still went to parties; when we played drinking games, I drank tea. I also got the nickname Ginger Junior. I'm not sure why, but I like it :)

Easter: We made a traditional easter brunch with ham, mashed potatoes, gravy, salad, deviled eggs and wine. Being vegetarian I didn't have the ham, but the rest was wonderful!

First Bank Holiday: stayed in London and went to the Saatchi gallery, went shopping and just hung out with one of my new favorite friends Nishita.

Sex and the City 2 premier in London: I lined up outside the red carpet while the stars walked o the premiere. Unfortunately, I couldn't see a thing, being so short, but I went to see the movie the following night which I enjoyed completely.

2nd Bank Holiday: I went to Amsterdam: the canals, the anne frank museum and the van gogh museum are must sees! I also went through the red light district and visited the coffee shops for the experience.

That pretty much catches you up, and I'll try to post more often in the future with pictures too!
